DR. JOEL SPEICHER

Dr. Speicher, having been a "military brat", grew up in various places throughout the country, but primarily in North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Tarheels!) and graduated with a degree in Biology in 1991. Dr. Speicher actually pursued a career in marine sciences before deciding to return to school and attend East Carolina University--School of Medicine. It was there that he discovered that not only did he thoroughly enjoy caring for children, but also that he was just a big kid himself. He graduated in 1996 and went onto a pediatric residency at the University of South Florida at Tampa General Hospital and All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg. While there, he helped organize and run a summer camp for children infected and affected by HIV, and was selected as "The Most Compassionate Resident." He completed his training in 1999 and was board certified the same year.

Having completed his training, Dr. Speicher fulfilled a life-long dream of exploring the west when he relocated to Reno and he has been happily practicing medicine in the same practice ever since. He is married to an amazing wife, has three wonderful children, and three "children with tails" whom he also adores. He enjoys music, hiking, camping, hula hooping, laughing, and playing with his kids until they drop.
