DR. Jessica Vaughan

Dr. Jessica Vaughan

Dr. Vaughan is thrilled to be joining the Northern Nevada Pediatrics team!

Dr. Vaughan was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received both her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of California Irvine (Go Anteaters Zot Zot!). She went on to complete her pediatric residency training at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where she earned the Associates and Affiliates Award For Outstanding Scientific Knowledge, Clinical Judgment and Excellence in Human Relations. Dr. Vaughan is board certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

During her time in Southern California she met her husband (a Reno native). His medical training took them to the midwest where Dr. Vaughan joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. There she cared for patients from birth through young adulthood as a newborn hospitalist and general pediatrician. While at the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Vaughan also mentored medical students and resident physicians and conducted research aimed at understanding how physicians can support breastfeeding parents.

Dr. Vaughan has a particular interest in newborn care and is a Certified Lactation Specialist. She enjoys teaching and is a community faculty member at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine.

One of the greatest joys of Dr. Vaughan’s practice has been developing trusting and longitudinal relationships with patients and families. She prides herself on being a strong advocate for her patients and aims to provide compassionate patient-centered care. Dr. Vaughan comes from a multicultural background and understands the importance of providing culturally competent healthcare and practicing shared decision making with families. Dr. Vaughan feels it is an honor to be given the opportunity to get to know and care for the unique needs of your child. Most of all she hopes to help your child grow up happy and healthy.

In her free time Dr. Vaughan enjoys exploring the local trails on foot and on bikes with her husband and dog Walter (a German Wirehaired Pointer). She considers herself an enthusiastic but novice skier and golfer. She is an avid ice cream fan.

Dr. Vaughan is thrilled to be practicing pediatrics closer to her family and is very excited to get to know yours! Fun fact, Dr. Christopherson was the childhood pediatrician for Dr. Vaughan’s husband!
