Covid-19 VACCINE, flu shots, & other news

COVID-19

The Omicron variant is now sickening many adults and children in the Reno-Sparks area. We urge all those eligible to get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect yourselves and the children of our community.

In our clinic, all parents and children (if old enough) must wear a mask. If you don't have a mask, we are happy to provide one.

We also ask that, if possible, only one caregiver accompany the patient(s) to the clinic, and other children and adults stay at home.

Covid-19 Testing

Rapid or PCR testing is available by appointment in our clinic. Rapid home tests are also sold at local pharmacies. Other testing sites can be found here.

If a person in your household is positive for COVID-19, please do not make a testing appointment for your child. You should assume that everyone in the family has the virus and stay at home. If your child needs medical care because of the illness, please call us for guidance.

COVID-19 vaccine

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is now available in our clinic for children 5 years old and up. Cases in children are rising rapidly, and local hospitals are nearly full. The vaccine is safe, effective, and free. Please call us for a shot appointment!

Flu SHOTS

We now have flu mist for children 3 and up, and flu shot for children 6 months old and up. If you’d like your child vaccinated, please cll for an appointment.

WildFire Smoke

Northern Nevada now experiences an air quality crisis every summer due to wildfire smoke. Smoke increases all types of respiratory illnesses in children. To protect them:

-Follow local air quality on a phone app such as Air Visual.

-Stay indoors if the air quality index (AQI) is greater than 100.

-Use masks outdoors if AQI is greater than 50. Cover infant car seats with thin cloth when outside.

-Use air purifiers indoors, if possible. Good ones can be found here.

PARKING & ACCESS

Our clinic is on the campus of Renown Regional Medical Center.

You may park in either the Mill Street or 2nd Street parking garages. Our clinic is on the 3rd floor of 75 Pringle Way, right next to the 2nd Street garage.

Visitor access to the medical center is restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, the best access to our office is through the valet parking side of the Pringle Way building. You can also use the hospital's north entrance, in the Renown Institute for Cancer (see photo, below). The security guard inside the door can direct you to our clinic.
